I worked at Canada Goose full-time

    Pros

    -Amazing coworkers
-great pay and bonus structure, though it's only beneficial during holiday season.
    -training on product knowledge

    Cons

-no room for advancement unless you worked with the managers at their previous workplace prior to coming to CG.
-hard work can easily be overlooked by members of management who constantly think they're right, though they have little to experience working in a luxury retail setting.
-no balance between work/life. Schedule is either too demanding or hours are cut dramatically.
-employee retention is horrible. I've seen great sellers and the most honest and hardworking manager there leave the company.
-can't use discount whenever you'd like. It is scheduled and always happens the week after you got paid.

    Advice to Management

-start listening to your employees, because 9 times out of 10, they have more knowledge about luxury retail than you do.
-Give promotions to those who have been working hard since day one, not someone you worked with previously.
-give your employees more balance in life/work.
-branch out to find new talent. It isn't fair that a potentially great candidate gets overlooked for someone you worked with at your last job.
-people should be promoted by their work ethic, and not who they hang out with after work. Stop being so judgemental and be as "authentic" as you claim your values are.

I have been working at Canada Goose (More than a year)

    Pros

There's a gym, offers free yoga classes, boot camps, free bagels on Fridays. I honestly can't think of anything else that would be considered as Pro!

    Cons

Many of the "leaders" don't have any leadership skills, social skills. There are VP's who don't even have university degrees.

No clear direction, no transparency! Every little thing is a big secret just because the "VP" or "Director" think if they keep it as a secret, it makes them powerful.

The company is growing so quickly to the point HR/ hiring manager just want to fill the positions with the equired experience and skill sets, forget about behavioural and cultural testing to ensure the candidate is the right fit for the company.

The turn-over rate has gone up. Pretty much everyone is stressed and this trickles down all the way to lower management and regular employees.

In one sentence, it is a jungle run by so many different people who each one wants a different thing and funny thing is non of them can't stand eachother.

    Advice to Management

I hope you find the right path!

    Pros

    - very nice and friendly lower level coworkers
    - strong company culture and background PK
    - pay is relatively higher than the industry avg, but you really have to work hard (for this position in Toronto only)

    Cons

    - no space for development. You can only attract the attention of management if you are close with them
    - no personal life. Schedule always comes out last minute. EXTREMELY hard to request timeoffs and even change schedule with coworkers.
    - serious double standards between management and lower level employees
    - management does not appreciate the value of hardworking employees and often come in a very aggressive attitude
    - no great employee benefits

    Advice to Management

    - be nice to your employees, don't be so aggressive
    - give employees a work-life balance, there are other things in life other than just work
    - treat management team and other workers equally, no more double standards

    Pros

some nice people at lower levels.

    Cons

    Too many to list
-FP&A department is a total disaster
-even though CG has a work from home/flex hours policy - its up to the manager and he says NO
    -no work life balance
-everything is "urgent" and in a constant panic state.
-HR department has no guts to do the right thing rather just put their head down and pretend everything is fine
    -no support for the employees
    -location is horrible
    -parking is a problem

    Advice to Management

    Fire the rotten apple managers
Think to yourself why turnover is so high
Having a bbq or "candy bar" isnt going to improve employee morale
what is the point of doing "engagement surveys" with ever declining results if you dont take any REAL action

I have been working at Canada Goose full-time

    Pros

Global brand with HQ in Canada (rare!)
Fast-paced growth = no shortage of opportunities to try new things
Great culture of people who are passionate about each other and what they're here to do

    Cons

On-boarding in a place that is growing and evolving so quickly isn't always the smoothest transition
We always want to hear more about what's happening in the business

    Advice to Management

Make sure it stays a safe place for people to fail and learn from mistakes

    Pros

The company made an effort to hire great people, which meant that I got along well with many of my coworkers and enjoyed working with them. The head office where I worked is a nice, modern space. There are also opportunities to get discounts on products.

    Cons

There was a lot of pressure for salaried employees to work extra hours.
Each department thought of themselves first, so sometimes work between departments could be challenging.
Certain departments were valued and respected more than others.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on growth and developing new products, and more on maintaining the quality the company is known for. Over time, the company became much more focused on profit, and less focused on making a truly exceptional product and being a great plan for it's employees to work.
